Gas Service in Southwest Florida
Florida is not a heating-driven gas market, but it is a cooking, generator, pool heater, and outdoor kitchen market. The work looks different from gas service in a northern state. We install gas lines for backup generators that run during hurricane outages, pool heaters that extend swim season, outdoor kitchens for waterfront homes, and tankless water heaters that take advantage of Florida's mild groundwater temperature.
Generator demand.
After Hurricane Ian, generator installs surged across Lee and Collier County. We run the gas line for backup generators, coordinate with the electrician, and pull the permit. Most installs run on natural gas where available and LP propane where it is not.
Pool heaters.
Florida swim season runs longer with a heater. Gas pool heaters heat faster and to higher temperatures than electric heat pumps, and the gas line install is what makes the upgrade possible.
Outdoor kitchens.
Naples, Bonita Springs, and Estero homes increasingly include outdoor kitchens with gas grills, side burners, and sometimes pizza ovens. We run the gas line, install the connections, and pressure-test the system.

Permits, Pressure Tests, and Inspections
Gas work is permitted work. That is not red tape, it is the part that keeps a line in the ground from becoming somebody's problem five years later. A-1 Plumbing & Gas holds Florida State License #CFC1430079, and gas installs get pulled, tested, and inspected the way the code requires in Collier and Lee County.
A new line gets pressure-tested before anything is connected and before any trench is closed. The test is the proof. If a joint is going to weep, it weeps on the gauge in front of the inspector, not later behind a wall. We also leave the system labeled so the next person who works on the house knows what runs where.
Natural gas versus LP.
Availability decides this more than preference. Natural gas service reaches parts of Naples and Bonita Springs and not others. Where it does not reach, propane does the same jobs from a tank on the property.
Appliance conversion.
Many appliances ship configured for one fuel and can be converted to the other with the manufacturer kit. That conversion has to be done correctly, because the orifice size is what sets the burn.
Sizing the line.
A line that feeds a range is not a line that also feeds a generator, a pool heater, and a tankless unit. Total demand sets the pipe diameter, and undersizing shows up as appliances that starve when several run at once.
What Runs on Gas in a Southwest Florida Home
The mix here is different from most of the country. Heating is barely a factor, so the load is cooking, hot water, the pool, the outdoor kitchen, and increasingly the standby generator. Generator demand in particular climbed sharply across Lee and Collier County after Hurricane Ian, and it is now a large share of the gas work we run.
Worth planning for all of it at once even if you are only adding one thing today. Running a line sized for the range you are installing now means opening the same ground again when the generator goes in next year. Sizing for where the house is heading is cheaper than doing the work twice.

Do you install gas lines for backup generators?
Yes. Generator installs are one of our most common gas projects, especially in Lee County after Hurricane Ian. We run the line from the meter or tank to the generator, coordinate with the electrician, pull the permit, and pressure-test the line before activation.
Can I get a gas line run to my outdoor kitchen or pool heater?
Yes. Both are common installs in Naples, Bonita Springs, and Estero. We run the line, install the connection, pressure-test, and pull the permit. The cost depends on the distance from the meter to the new appliance and whether the line runs through walls, slab, or yard.
My house does not have natural gas service. Can I still use gas appliances?
Yes, with LP propane. We install propane tanks (underground or above-ground) and the gas line from the tank to your appliances. This is common in Golden Gate, rural Collier County, and parts of Estero where natural gas service does not reach.
I smell gas in my home. What should I do?
Leave the house first. Do not flip light switches, do not use phones inside, and do not start any appliances. Once outside, call your gas utility from a safe distance, then call us at (239) 699-3144. We will inspect, locate, and repair the leak.
Do you handle gas water heater installs?
Yes. We install gas tank and gas tankless water heaters and handle both the plumbing and the gas line work in one visit. Our team is Uponor Certified on the water side and licensed on the gas side.
Can you service my restaurant or commercial kitchen gas system?
Yes. We service restaurants and commercial kitchens across Collier and Lee County. Restaurant gas work has its own code requirements and we handle the permitting and inspection process.
Do I need a permit to add a gas line?
Yes, gas work is permitted in Collier and Lee County, and that is a good thing for you. The permit brings an inspection, and the inspection is independent confirmation that the line was installed and pressure-tested correctly. We pull the permit as part of the job.
Can you run gas for a whole-house generator?
Yes. Generator lines are a large share of our gas work, and demand for them rose sharply across Lee and Collier County after Hurricane Ian. We size and run the line, pressure-test it, and coordinate with your electrician on the connection side.
What if natural gas is not available on my street?
Then propane does the same work. LP tanks, above ground or buried, feed ranges, pool heaters, generators, outdoor kitchens, and tankless water heaters the same way natural gas does. Parts of Golden Gate, Estero, and rural Collier County run on propane for exactly this reason.
